Caprese Board

If you’ve ever had a Caprese Salad, you know it’s the most delicious combination of flavors. I’m not sure I’d eat some of them on their own, but combined… oh my god.

For me, it’s the basil that takes it over the top, so don’t skimp on that.

Below is a sort of guideline for putting together this beautiful Caprese Board, but you can make it a salad just as easily.

Good lord that photo makes me ravenous!

  • Burrata + Fresh Mozzarella (the mini size is often labeled as Bocconcini or Ciliegine)
  • All. The. Tomatoes. Cherry, Grape, Heirloom, On the Vine. Mix & match your favorites!
  • Fresh summer berries like strawberries and raspberries. – Optional but they add an unexpected and delicious twist!
  • Basil. Lots and lots of basil.
  • Italian charcuterie like prosciutto or sopressata – or both!
  • EVOO
  • Balsamic Glaze
  • Salt and Pepper

  1. Start by adding your burrata and small piles of mozzarella
  2. Layer in piles of tomatoes. If you’re using a variety of tomatoes, don’t be afraid to mix and match the sizes to add dimension
  3. Add your charcuterie using the salami fold method (or prosciutto ribbons)
  4. Continue layering mozzarella and tomatoes – no need to be precious with your placement. We’re going for a more “undone”, bountiful look!
  5. GARNISH with all of that fresh beautiful basil, a healthy glug of EVOO, a generous drizzle of balsamic glaze and salt & pepper to taste.
